Founded in Thunder Bay, ON, by Michael Throm and Neil Gillingham, Summit Pipeline Services Ltd. takes its first steps in the industry, laying the groundwork for its future endeavors and growth. Founding team members emphasize customer-centric solutions.

With a vision for expansion and efficiency, the company moves its operations to a newly constructed office, shop, and warehousing facility in Rosslyn, ON, signaling its commitment to accommodating rapid growth and enhancing operational capabilities.

Recognizing the need to adapt to changing industry landscapes, the company diversifies its service portfolio, venturing into sewer and water work to meet evolving client demands and expand its market reach in Canada and USA.

Marking a significant milestone in its journey, Summit Pipeline Services is acquired by the McLeod Lake Indian Band (MLIB) of British Columbia, becoming one of the pioneering Indigenous-owned pipeline maintenance businesses in Canada and setting a precedent for future endeavors in diversity and inclusion.

Embarking on a journey of expansion, the company extends its operations westward and eastward, establishing offices in Fort St John, BC. Expanding to mid-inch pipeline and facilities installations, the company undertook projects across Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario, solidifying its presence in key regions.

Summit secures a multi-year contract in Western Canada, overseeing the construction of Natural Gas gathering systems, installing multiple pipelines and association stations up to NPS 12”, highlighting its capabilities in complex energy infrastructure projects.

Experiencing a period of significant growth and project success, the company secures major contracts in Southern and South Eastern Ontario and Manitoba, including notable contributions to the Line 9 reversal project. In this period, Summit executed several million person hours of safe work.

Building on its legacy of success, Summit Pipeline Services is acquired by APi Group, making the company well positioned to continue to invest in its people, ensuring everyone continues to lead, and support to continue its growth trajectory and commitment to excellence.

Embracing diversification and innovation, the company expands its service offerings by establishing a Heavy Civil Division, leveraging its expertise to meet the evolving needs of clients.

Demonstrating its capacity for large-scale operations, Summit executes one of the largest dig programs in Northern Ontario and Eastern Manitoba, encompassing 27 concurrent dig crews, showcasing its ability to undertake complex projects efficiently and effectively.

Responding to market demand and growth opportunities, the company establishes a satellite office in Cobourg, ON, strategically positioning itself to better serve the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding regions, further enhancing its client-centric approach.

Summit's Heavy Civil Division secures a massive contract to move over 12 million cubic meters of overburden for a mining project in Northern Ontario, underscoring its position in diverse industry sectors.

The company re-evaluates its priorities and decides to refocus on its core pipeline business, allowing management to concentrate on safety, and the health of its relationships in this sector.
